Small-batch soy and beeswax candles, hand-poured in our Bakewell workshop. Scents drawn from the rivers, hedgerows, and slightly damp cottages of the Peak District.
Each poured to order in batches of thirty, then left to set for five days before it ever sees a label. 220 g, 50-hour burn, cotton wick, no synthetic paraffin.
Gift set of three — £58. Free handwritten note if you want one. Add a gift wrap →
Merewood started on a kitchen table in 2018. Eva was a forester for ten years before the candles; the scents are drawn from the places she used to walk at first light — the birchwoods above Bakewell, the river Wye after rain, the small meadow behind her grandfather's cottage in Hartington.
Everything is made in small batches in a converted mill workshop. Nothing is outsourced — not the pouring, not the labelling, not even the little wooden spoons we use to stir the wax.
British rapeseed + coconut wax, warmed in a double-pan.
Essential and natural fragrance oils, blended by hand.
Into recycled amber glass. Wick, settle, cover.
Five days in a cool dark room before labelling.
If you'd rather smell a candle than read about one, these fine places keep us on the shelf. Or come by the workshop any Saturday, 10 till 2.
